Northern Nash Wins the Match but Hunt is the most excited

ROCKY MOUNT, NC – September 26, 2011 – Northgreen CC – The second Big East conference match was held at Northgreen CC in Rock Mount, NC. This match was an 18 hole round. Northern Nash came away the victor but the most excited team coming off the course was the Hunt team.

The Hunt team came in second only four strokes behind with a 280 but that is not what excited the team. The Hunt girls rewrote the record book at Hunt for girls golf in scoring the lowest team 18 hole round in the school’s history. There is nothing better than being in the record books during your high school years. That’s what memories are made of.

Northern Nash carded a team total of 276 with Kadijah Barfield leading the way with an 89. Helping Barfield were Abby Glover with a 90 and Hunter Smith with a 97.

Leading the way for Hunt to set a new record were Casey Potter and Myranda Melton both carding a pair of 92’s. Rounding out the record breaking round of 280 was Samantha Corn with a 96.

Though Southern Nash finished in the third spot their Rachel Bissette took home the medalist honors for her first time this season with a round of 87.

Coach McGuire said, “Northgreen is a long course but the girls handled it very well.  We saw a few girls get personal best scores.”

The Big East travels to The River next Monday for their next conference match.  Results........
